Part of me wonders if we really need to hide the phrases “public and private keys” from normies. For example, usernames and passwords can be hard for the elderly still but for anyone under 60 it’s fine. If you’re under, say 30, then you can pick up pub/priv key by analogy to username/password.
The reason I say this is because the law of leaky abstractions [1] may creep in and what we thought was a gentle introduction without keys turns into confusion later on.
