it was literally invented by microsoft as a wedge between those who comply with a corporations extra-legal demands and those who dont though and it serves that purpose.
it isnt meant to describe actual ethics, its meant to descibe compliance with coordinated disclosure and acquiescence to the idea that a corporation is entitled to ownership of an individuals work.
