I'm agender because I don't really 'get' gender. Like, I understand the concept and the fact that others find it important and meaningful and useful, but to me it's just an arbitrary social distinction. And I strongly resent being pulled into the game, and having people place social limits on their expectations for me based on what genitals they think I was born with.
I fight against gender norms a lot in an effort to discover some sort of realness of self and see what I genuinely like and feel, but its exhausting, and even then I'm still legitimising a system by fighting against it.
Sex is often seen as biological where gender is social, and they often relate in weird ways. Sex is complex, and there are numerous markers to decide whether to categorise someone as male or female.
I'm realising that I appreciate how I'm now non-binary in terms of sex, not just in terms of gender?
