I think Americans CAN associate themselves with something positive though, they're just failing and taking the easy thing to brag about, associate themselves with Garibaldi.
Maybe because they don't understand that by not doing so they aren't left with just a burger, but they could associate themselves with the possibility of starting fresh and build something positive. It sucks that they're doing the exact opposite.
This reminds me of a comic book I read ages ago.
