The Word doc has to be setup properly, as I learned with my early tries. Nothing elaborate, just no extra spaces, etc. I use Word's automatic features for spacing, indenting, fonts, chapter heads, & so forth--nothing done by hand (tabs for example) & make use of the show/hide button while editing so I can view all the formatting. Then I review the ebook in Kindle Previewer to make sure nothing was missed. It's quick & easy these days.
