Do you agree with Somerset Maugham, who said, "There are three rules for writing a novel. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are."
Always assumed this to be a joke. Every writer knows there are at least 100 rules, several of which conflict. Everyone only knows a subset which they insist are the most important, & influencers will fight each other over them on social media.
