I don't think that Sam is wrong about everything, but he has a huge blind spot when it comes to his own ethics.
Any ethicist worth their salt has to agree that, when you get things wrong, the ETHICAL thing to do is to admit you're wrong, not dream up fantasy scenarios to prove you were right.
The ethics that apply to COVID for what it was are completely different than an airborne Ebola. He thinks, ethically, you have to think of them the same way.
