if it's anything like the horrible sore throat I had for 3 weeks, prepare yourself. Was like swallowing razor blades.
cold-eeze and menthol cough drops helped. 400mg ibuprofen stopped the inflammation and reduced throat pain, which is unusual.
Expectorant in the evening may help you hock up gunk before you lay down and start sleeping, which otherwise you have to sit up for in the middle of the night to have a fit.
If it is what I had, you may also get pink eye / ear infection. Fun.
