True. Americans could save themselves a whole bunch grief and just use STV voting for president. But they will not, because their system appears to run on deals for campaign donations.
I am not saying that the system is any better in my country. "The list" in MMP elections is clearly faulty, because people can be put on the list to become MPs and they can get a seat in parliament without anyone voting for them. And they could just be paid consultants after the election.
