It's seems to me that there is some kind of issue with your url, it's like you are trying to update from the "outside" and not locally.
Are you using your LAN to access the hardware portal? Something like 192.168.1.Y and your pc have 192.168.1.X.
x.gstatic.com doesn't sound as local domain. Maybe that is the reason.
