On this day long ago, a child was born who by the age of 30 would transform the world.
Happy Birthday Isaac Newton, born #onthisday 382 years ago.
Newton is one of the greatest scientists in history: he discovered the laws of gravity and motion, invented calculus, built the first reflecting telescope, split white light into the visible spectrum, and so much more.
[I'll just note here that at the time of Newton's birth, England was using the Julian calendar (they didn't switch to the Gregorian calendar, which we use today, until the middle of the 18th century). Under the Gregorian calendar Isaac Newton was born January 4, 1643. See [1]].
