I've been running a personal nostr relay (strfry) for 18 months and it's rock solid.
My personal mastodon instance, on the other hand, seems to require quarterly maintenance that sometimes gets pretty gnarly managing software dependencies. It's bad enough that I snapshot the machine before doing upgrades because they tend to break services.
