my older PC can play shooter games fine but can barely load YouTube pages on a 300 Mbit connection

that absolute dogshit YouTube is - Walmart / McDonalds of media consumption

why make a clean interface that works when you can pile as much shit onto a page as possible then have AdBlock fight with the 500 ads until a multi-core CPU, 32 GB of ram and 300 Mbit connection isn't enough to load a page and watch a video

this same computer somehow worked fine on YouTube 5 years ago.

the problem doesn't occur on some kind of 8K HDR videos - it occurs on REGULAR quality videos.

if the problem was just on high bitrate videos i would get a new graphics card but the problem is the page itself, not the video.

unless they changed video codecs then the problem could be the video.

fuck i sound like a boomer now or a loser from the Fedi ...

i have a newer PC but that's in the other room and connected to the $10,000 TV that is dead and can't be fixed ...

i will not buy a new TV until i am living in Florida because i ain't about to move a 85" TV ...

i am thinking i need to buy a small monitor temporarily that i would be able to toss in a U-Haul truck ...

by "small" i mean like a 57" ultra-wide dual 4K.

even then it wouldn't solve the problem because all my porn is on the old PC - the one in the living room is clean - so it is not very useful to me even if it is fast.
