There is, at most, two years before Carla Hayden is replaced as the Librarian of Congress by someone from Moms for Liberty.
It's possible (I think unlikely but who knows) that all functions of the LoC will be defunded and shuttered except providing advice to members of the US Congress before that.
The entire anglophone library world has foolishly relied on infrastructure managed by LoC – including all core cataloguing standards and techniques, and the most widely-used vocabularies – for decades.
I'm aware that if you asked the more powerful people within librarianship what their plan is to deal with this, the answer right now would be "we haven't thought about it".
But ...what are we going to do about this? We gotta #decentralise
