yes I'm still wondering what the model is that supports it. It does not seem to have ads. Lots of sites "collect" or "store data" but that is often for logins, or 1st party cookies to retain preferences, etc. It's the usage of the data, if any, that is of more concern. That said all my posting and comms on these networks is public. I'm more careful with my Signal, SimpleX, etc apps.
