I think I learn more from my kids than they learn from me.
Today, one of my daughters had a lightswitch moment, and understood the distinction between “smart” and “cunning”. That’s a big deal.
However, I learned my own lesson about not taking things like that for granted. Not to say that hasn’t ever occurred to me; obviously it has, dozens of times.
But my lesson is a very precise piece of specialized knowledge about her perspective over the years - which extends in myriad ways to all her siblings, and indeed many young people in general.
