Even animal species are known to wage war because in the end, it's just organised fighting and if there are resources another group has and that you want, that can be a viable approach. If you think you'll win of course.
That said, both women and men can be pretty warlike in the right situation. It's just that men have tried to monopolise violence because that gave them distinct advantages.
