The Western comics and animation spheres keep being neglected thanks to this systematic problem. It's more than just too many people refusing to buy them. Nothing positive has been done about it within the industry (it's gotten worse), and not even independent circles (including those cuckservative ones) have tried to grow a huge following compared to anime/manga's offerings. There's also a lot more discussion of mainstream and industry cringe compared to that of new comics (and some cartoons) that are actually worth your time.
