GST Council meeting: Pan-India roll out of biometric authentication to check fake invoicing, FM says

In the 53rd GST Council Meeting, FM Nirmala Sitharaman announced the pan-India roll out of biometric authentication to combat fake invoicing. The GST council recommended that Aadhaar biometric authentication be made mandatory for new GST registrations. The Finance Minister also declared that services provided by Indian Railways, such as platform tickets, will be exempted from GST.
