With regards to the US' involvement, that much is true. It's a proxy war that profits its investors, which doesn't technically mean the American people.
The history of Ukraine has been of a revolutionary punching bag since the USSR fell, which is somewhat like Afghanistan in that sense, but post-Soviet instead of radicalized Islam, so less burkas and more drunk people.
People do forget that Zelensky *is* a de facto dictator. Either way, it's none of the US' business to be there.
