I think it also helps to understand how simple the goals or interests of such campaigns can be. Primarily to weaken the West and to sew divison. And not particularely to „take a side“. Sometimes it does, but always for those bigger goals (eg. someone like Trmp can be very divisive and weakening, both domestically and internationally, due to him just being a sort of worst imaginable politician).
