agree, the mindless memes and low value "link posting" is basically a denial of service attack on my attention. (I'm guilty of boosting those that get a smile out of me, though.)
I signed up originally to monitor the feed for valuable links about covid, etc. But the firehose of facebook/reddit reposts overwhelms the valuable posts.
maybe fedi clients need a "lol, I'm just shitposting!" button next to the "Publish!" button.
