I think they expect their 'fur babies' to do all the heavy lifting when they're old and frail. In all seriousness, the elderly are going to completely overwhelm the system and with the boomer generation being the next in line, I'm not looking forward to what that may mean in its entirety.
Healthcare industry is already understaffed
Nursing homes will be full
Younger generations won't be able to work multiple jobs and take care of ailing family members.
That DINK lifestyle is just hedonism in its finest form. Do what makes you feel good no matter the consequences. They'll reap what they've sown imo. Maybe we go back to more tribal/smaller communities focused around family and preservation.
