Finally got home around 6h00 PM last night, all were properly knackered from the events of the day.
Mona had only one tooth pulled out. They saw she was in less of a pickle for her teeth once they cleaned her teeth and took x-rays.
Lisa, on the other hand, had a LOT of her teeth pulled out, they were in worse shape than Mona's. A lot of her teeth had already fallen by themselves. They had to take out one of her canines but they kept her incisors. Once the operation was done, they put her in an incubator to keep her body temperature stable, she had lots of fluids pumped into her small body, and they wanted to keep her for a few hours for observation. We could finally go pick her up around 4h30/5h00 PM.
I've meds to give both of them (anti-inflammatory) and Lisa, more specifically, antibiotics twice a day. They were both famished after the day, (had make them both fast for 12 hours before the surgery) but it was a little of a problem for Lisa. I gave them their regular raw cat food, but her mouth was swollen and so I decided to give her one of the treats she absolutely adores, a kind of jelly, tuna and then salmon, and that seemed to calm her and she ate a little of the regular food. Also fed her using a small spoon and she accepted the regular food. This morning one side of her mouth is still swollen but they told me this would be normal.
I am so nervous when I have to open her mouth to give her her pill (antibiotics), I don't want to hurt her so I'll get around in finding a way but for now, I am deadly afraid I'll hurt her but she swallows her pill like a real champ.
At the clinic, while Adèle and I were waiting for them to be brought to us, a whole family came in in tears, the man was carrying in his arms a huge dog, a Bernese mountain dog (bouvier bernois). They brought him in the back directly after acknowledgement from reception. A woman and a man came out a few minutes after, the woman was crying her eyes out and they went outside, the rest of the family stayed in the back with the dog. It made me cry so much, I could feel their pain and the immense sorrow and worry of having a pet in danger or about to be put down. I have a bit of time left with mine, so that made me thankful.
I think we get so very much attached to our pets because they love us the way we dream humans would love us.
