Ok, but this fork looks like it's committing the same sin of stripping out all the BSD licences and copyrights?
AIUI, you can't do that unless you own those copyrights. You can sublicence from BSD, but you can't strip that licence and the rights it grants entierly.
The result would be that all the old files become dual BSD-LGPL, while new files may be LGPL-only.
