I was never a #Linux expert but I was using Ubuntu / Xubuntu for over 10 years now and everything mostly "just worked". Yesterday I wanted to update my Xubuntu from 22.04 to 24.04 and two of my three computers were completely borked when doing do-release-upgrade. One of them crashed in script "convert-dev.py" or something similar, the second uninstalled the package "xubuntu-desktop" and I lost all my installed with graphical output! I spent 20 hours fixing this. Disappointed...
