I agree, that both Matrix and #XMPP are complex (in different ways), and the people who invented those protocols are not stupid — they implemented all the complexity for reasons.\n\nAnd how cumbersome email is nowadays! When I started using email, there was no TLS, no PGP, no MIME, no DKIM, no SPF, no DMARC, no other encoding than 7-bits ASCII. To send a picture, we had to uuencode it and paste the result in the email. Wow!\n\n#Jabber",
