Imagine how many startups the government could've funded with amount of money like this?
It's $1 mil for 100,000 startups and $500k for 200,000 startups for a seed round.
For an indie bootstrapper it'd be enough money to live for multiple years and build many valuable things for other people, community and state.
US will always get these money back from the VATs and other taxes because you'll inevitable pay them when you shop, hire people and from everything else that you do with money.
That's also like at least 200k jobs created instantly, it seems like economy goes in that direction anyways where many people need to quit their boring jobs and do something they truly care about.
And government has the best positioning to provide aid for that because VCs and investors only want money as a return.
Government could also issue bounties like that for up to a $1mil to improve on every aspect of the government and locally.
The communities themselves can come up with ideas and identify the problems to fix and put money into, maybe even without the middleman - the government to allow them to.
Like if there is a broken bench, any person with skills and time could take funds off the fund and fix it that day or order a new one etc, with government this would take days by minimum.
I think most taxes should go towards the area you live in and the digital projects for it and the country that you have to use anyways.
Switzerland has it a bit like that and even small towns there are spotless, very well built, for people with reduced mobility as well, long and carefully designed bike lanes that aren't existing in big cities in other countries even.
And so whenever most of your taxes are paid to the main entity controlling the whole big country, it can't effectively work with and improve on every neighbourhood.
I think the best way of living and governance is within smaller neighborhoods/areas, that's when you can get deep into every details of everything around you
