I am skeptical of all of them. Even if they aren’t scamming, they usually are enablers that say things like “we give a hand up instead of a handout.” I’ve seen that line used far too often to find out that what they mean by a “hand up” is just giving out free stuff.
Some people literally just need an address, a shower, and clean clothes so they can get a job again and I’m all for providing those things for those people. But for most, homelessness is a symptom.
