I think the way ownership interacts with leadership is one of the problems.(I don't have a solution.) It's impractical for shareholders to get involved with leadership. I rarely vote my proxies. I imagine some executives do things they don't believe in in order to please analysts, who are looking for short- or intermediate-term returns, because the analysts know retail investors like me want returns; we may all support actions none of us want. 😕
