How can a company get away with illegally scooping up the tax returns of almost every single American citizen without anybody's informed consent, use such sensitive information for its own advantage (namely, pushing better targeted ads), and still be in business?
Employees at Meta have even candidly admitted it: "yes, we purchased a lot of data from tax collection companies, and yes, we used that data for our own profit".
Am I the only one who thinks that the managers behind this operation should be in jail, the company fined into oblivion, and users outraged to the point of escaping the spyware program in flocks until the spyware program collapses?
How could we get to a point where a company can literally steal your tax returns without its bottom line being attacked, and its CEO not only being still outside of jail, but also being among the richest men on earth?
