In the days following the launch of the Europa Clipper mission on Oct 14, the Europa Clipper Magnetometer (ECM) was deployed. The ECM consists of 3 fluxgate sensors mounted on an 8.5m coilable boom.
The ECM will measure Europa's magnetic field and help determine the existence of its ocean, its depth and salinity.
