"content": "In the days following the launch of the Europa Clipper mission on Oct 14, the Europa Clipper Magnetometer (ECM) was deployed. The ECM consists of 3 fluxgate sensors mounted on an 8.5m coilable boom.\n\nThe ECM will measure Europa's magnetic field and help determine the existence of its ocean, its depth and salinity.\n\nThe video below shows an animation of the curious unfolding and deployment of the ECM boom.\n\nLet's take a look at coilable booms.\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DG1skqAlUYY\nhttps://www.nasa.gov/missions/europa-clipper/nasas-europa-clipper-millions-of-miles-down-instruments-deploying/\n1/n",
