npub1j8m6n55er97404gz59f35yt7h22lqh9dk5algdxlnza90paca7hsk5v5r7 (npub1j8m…v5r7) I’m really surprised by that statement that most Jew are Zionists. Every one of my (American) Jewish friends has very complicated feelings about the Israeli state. I think most of them have been for a two-state solution and now feel that Israel is committing Palestinian genocide. It’s not like they are Hamas apologists. I don’t know anyone who things that 10/7 was justified. But I also don’t know anyone who believes that the ongoing response was justified.
In your point about minorities choosing what is offensive, I think people are not criticizing Jews, but the Israeli state. Every Jewish person I know makes a strong distinction between those two things. To view the Jewish people and the Israeli state as one thing that cannot be criticized without being antisemitic is a pretty theocratic authoritarian position.
Edit: It occurs to me also that Zionism has a lot of varying definitions. My understanding is that in modern colloquial terms it means the belief that, among other things, Israel has a right to all Palestinian territory. If you meant something more specific or different, then I would like to know more about what Zionism means to you.
