I'm building a solar dehydrator for the farm, and need a temperature controlled vent to keep it from cooking things instead of drying them. I looked at half a dozen electro-mechanical things, settled on nitinol wire. Tested it today, works as advertised.
If you do things that require movement based on temperature, look into nitinol wire. Also, it's fun to play with.
