08-01-2017 | Bitcoin Independence Day
Today bitcoiners are celebrating Bitcoin Independence Day. This holiday is the culmination of a two-year war between two camps within the Bitcoin community, defending their vision of how to approach protocol scaling.
Today, in 2017 the UASF softfork was activated, marking the control of users (rather than miners and corporations) over the Bitcoin protocol. Spare 6 minutes to watch this short video by Aaron van Wirdum, where he explains what UASF is and why this softfork is so important to the Bitcoin community and the further development of the protocol.
