I’ve heard from several people that when Employee 4 told De Oliveira that he couldn’t delete the surveillance files, he was likely being disingenuous—making it sound like his hands were tied when in truth he could have worked around the obstacles. That’s certainly plausible, but I still maintain that many reporters misunderstood the language used in the superseding indictment. #4 wasn’t bravely refusing to follow orders; he was at best doing a pocket veto.
