Just think a moment, why would in Matthew 11 the jews accuse Jesus of being a winebibber if the only other time that word is used is in prov 23 when it's about drunkenness. Why would they accuse him of being like a drunk if it wasn't alcoholic? Deu 14 also uses the word strong drink. Wine and strong drink are often next to each other in the Bible. They are both alcoholic. There's very few times that fresh juice was ever expressly mentioned, once in Genesis 40 in the cup bearers dream. In song of Solomon 8, the word wine is used distinctly from the fresh juices of a fruit. Wine is always alcoholic in the Bible. Wine is wine.
Words don't magically change their meaning. Jesus had normal alcoholic wine, and didn't sin, because it's not a sin. Getting wasted is. The idea that all consumption of alcoholic beverages is sinful is a false cultural artifact of American churches and the lasting cultural effects of prohibition that changed the attitude of wine from a valid method of enjoyable food preservation and simply as a tool to get fucked up.
"You're making Jesus into a sinner by saying it was alcoholic wine" - no - the Bible doesn't say having alcohol is a sin. The only people who are not even supposed to look at it are the literal drunkard alcoholics that can't control themselves. They're the only ones that the Bible says need to be abstinent.
I used to think it was a sin, but I read the Bible, and it's not.
