I doubt enough people care about the fediverse for there to be any PR advantage in joining it. It seems to me that part of what they're after is audience—Threads is really pitched at brands and influencers, and that's what they want—and something to show regulators so they look less like a monopoly. And the more open they can keep the traffic between their users and the fediverse, the better it serves those imperatives.",
