I very recently learned that the EO branch of ecclesia considers Enoch canonical; I'm not quite there, but I consider it at the very least valuable background for understanding scripture.

I half agree with the Adventist view of soul sleep; my reading of Paul and Jesus and the prophets persuades me that UNBELIEVERS sleep in death until the resurrection. But for believers, "sleep" refers only to our bodies... Of this I'm strongly persuaded by Jesus, who said "Whoever lives and believes in me shall NEVER die," and Paul, who said that to be "absent from the body" is to be "present with the Lord" and that we have "a house, not made with hands, eternal in the heavens."

I could be wrong, and a long dirt nap wouldn't upset me in the least, as I live in the sure hope of bodily resurrection on the last day in a perfect, immortal body, thanks to the incredible grace of our Lord Jesus.

I am eternally grateful to the SDA tradition for rescuing me from adherence to the egregious false doctrine of Eternal Conscious Torment in hell; I've come to see that scripture presents what I find best named as "conditional immortality" contingent upon faith in Jesus.
