A stalled mixed-use development turns into West Hollywood's newest lake
==========
The Melrose Triangle mixed-use development project in West Hollywood has turned into a large, swampy pool that locals have nicknamed "WeHo Lake" due to the accumulation of green-hued water, presumably colored by algae. Construction on the project is on hold, and the site has become a home for mosquitoes, ducks, and other water-loving critters. The water began to stagnate after many of the groundwater pumps installed on the property were vandalized, but repairs have been made and the water level has been reduced. The city of West Hollywood is working with the property owner to ensure that the water is drained. The development has faced roadblocks, including a lawsuit questioning the adequacy of the city's environmental review, and the former building on the site, Jones Dog & Cat Hospital, was demolished in 2018. It is unclear when construction on the project will begin.
