I would love to explore this topic in more detail.
Do you know of any research that explores this relationship between sufficient technology, well-being and ecological pressures? Not on a macro scale where details are often lost in aggregates and averages, but in micro scale. For example, I wonder if there's any research on intentional communities: what tech they use, what's their standard of living and how big populations they support on how much land and energy inputs.
