A pair of baby great horned owls are being raised at our place. I never see their mama and didn't notice their nest, but the fluffy fledglings are ever present. In the day, they perch silently in the big leaf maples. I see them when I work outside. They don't flee, only watch. At night, they perch close to the house. One will whistle-screech every so often, to be answered by the other. Their voices differ. I sense their mama is close, listening as she hunts.
