We do need appstores. Not everyone can build source code. Some of our users don't have laptops. Some are forced to use non-free software by their employers. Even Delta Chat (npub17gp…nrxn) needs network effects, so it needs to be as accessible as possible.
As much as I like technical solutions to political problems, in this case we have to build up political pressure to show the conservatives and authoritarians where the red line is.
