A message to Nigerians And Extension To All Africans:
During Civil Rights Struggle, African Americans did not simply say, racial segregation is not my portion;
They fought it, because what affects one person, affects all.
Soon, we'll figure out we need to be a lot wiser in confronting our problems, not everything is spiritual.
Trust me, change cannot occur without friction.
I sometimes wonder whether the same Christianity that motivated Wilberforce to fight Slavery - even exists in Nigeria.
Okay, you say Christians shouldn't be involved in politics - but what about corruption? Does the Bible not say, thou shalt not steal? What stops us from taking a principled, unequivocal stance against corruption?
Let me tell you what; when we, and Church leadership benefit from corrupt persons/politicians, of course we are less motivated to stand against it.
Or maybe we are simply afraid, and mask this fear in spiritual sophistry.
But let me warn again, change will not occur without friction, and if we don't get involved, it will be driven by people we don't like, who will take us to where we don't want to go.
