Just an FYI for non-Chinese users: GitHub was unblocked for mainland China just five hours ago.
You read that right, it was GitHub actively blocking it, not China's firewall. Some users have reported that CERNET, some Hong Kong and Macau ISPs are also affected. According to GitHub, the problem lasted for nineteen hours and was caused by a configuration file error.
