"content": "There's still work to be done, on a global scale, but a step towards accepting people for who they are, who they love, who they come home to, and who they call family, is a step forward towards progress. As is the understanding of the fact that a loving, caring parent is a loving, caring parent, no matter what, and any person who has love to give to a child should have the full legal right to do so without stigma or social ostracism.\n\nThere is also a reason why most media outlets highlight the fact that Greece is both the 37th country in the world and the first Christian Orthodox country to allow same-sex marriage. Because equality is important regardless, but for a country with a significant portion of the population still leaning towards religious conservatism to do so against the strong opposition of the Church, and with a large number of in favour votes as well (176 votes for, 76 against, and 2 abstentions) it's also a definite sign of hope and progress, and a tremendous reminder that things can and do change. :flag_progress: \n\nhttps://time.com/6695758/greece-same-sex-marriage-adoption-christian-orthodox-lgbtq/\n\n#LGBTQIA #LGBTQ #SameSexMarriage #Equality #LGBT #Greece #News #WorldNews",
