Welp! Apparently the Pomera DM250 can run Debian Linux! The guts are a quad core ARM Cortex-A7 clocked at up to 1.GHz with about 3Gb of storage and 1Gb of RAM. Bluetooth in Linux is unconfirmed but Wifi works, as does colour X11 (with xfce).
Prognosis: if I can't get linux working to satisfaction I *still* will have a portable writing tool. With linux? Oh boy.
