I had one site we host that would maybe transfer 250-300mb of data a in a typical month… not even a fart… due to a few weird urls, the traffic spiked out to 740Gb… that’s a cost we had to bury of about 200usd/month… the website owner gets no benefit. It went on for 3 months, and we had to resort to some pretty terrible mitigations, since they don’t respect shit. one wonders when they are not even going to announce themselves, pretend to be a browser
