"content": "I haven’t come across this particular case before, but my instinct is to start with a regression tree (like rpart) to get a raw score, then bin them into letter grades after the fact.\n\nOn the downside, it means you have one more step of mapping scores to grades, but on the upside it preserves your intuition of grade ordering.",
