i'm kind of ashamed that i know absolutely dick about amps as long as i've been playing guitar. it's the main reason i've never moved beyond cheap combo amps. i don't want to fork out several hundred bucks for something that i'll end up hating and i don't feel like i can trust the guys at guitar center.
